Memorial day geocaching

The girls and I don't get to Rockwood all that often, so while we in town for the Memorial day parade, we decided to do a little geocaching.

One of the caches that we sought was at the historical museum which would have been fantastic to see (I'm such a history geek), but it was closed because of the holiday.   We still enjoyed checking out the caboose that was there though.

The caboose and our time at Mercure park were perfect examples of what I enjoy the most about geocaching -- it often takes you to places that you just wouldn't normally get to.   The approaching storm prevented us from checking out more caches in the area, but as we drove home the sky cleared a little bit so we stopped at Erie Metropark to try to find the Metroparks Geocaching Adventure cache that is hidden there.   We made it to the cache, but got poured on as we walked back to the car.   Still... we had lots of fun.
