After a week off, the girls returned to the theater today for week four for DYPAC's Spring workshop.
I know that I must sound like a broken record by now, but it amazes me at how involved the girls' dances are, and how each week it gets more and more complicated. Perhaps its just that when it comes to dancing, I have two left feet and look remarkably like Midnight Oil's Peter Garett does in the Beds are Burning video. Maybe its just ME that would have a hard time with it, because the girls sure do make it look easy.
Today, the girls received their roles and lines in the musicals. Kennedy is a tight-rope walker and has a brief speaking part in their Circus Circus show. With her quiet little voice, I'm gonna have to work hard with her to find a way to sound louder. It made me smile to see her reading her lines and singing the songs even without the music. I guess in my eyes, she is still my little baby, and I just don't give her enough credit for what she is capable of.
After a quick lunch, it was the Riley and Emily's turns to get their lines. Both of them have singing parts in the song "My Strongest Suit" from Adia, which was exactly what they were both hoping for. They also worked on their dialog introductions for each musical piece that is in the performance. I think that the thing that I noticed the most was that Riley looks so much more comfortable now compared to the Winter workshop, and there is even a little bit of intentional smokey raspy-like low ranged singing coming from her now. Just as with Kennedy, I don't give her enough credit for all that she can do.
Only two weeks to go, and I haven't seen any signs of nerves at all in any of them. Its simple really... they amaze me.
