The girls went to their monthly Nature Nuts program at Oakwoods Nature Center today and had a poopy time. Poop, scat, dung, feces, do-do, ka-ka, or bum brownies -- call it what you want, this month's topic was all about poop.
They learned to identify what animal had been around by...well, what they left behind. Patrick presented a PowerPoint presentation of Oakwoods version of Who Pooped in the Park, and then showed the kids various animal dung via pictures and samples. The kids then went out on the trails and found evidence of coyote, red fox, and muskrat, and brought some of their findings in to show me. The girls said that they could identify it by the shape and then popped it into their mouths and exclaimed "...also by its taste!" Taste? Taste!
Apparently the samples that Patrick made were created from a concoction of chocolate chips and marshmallows. LOL When we get together with the Aunt Krissy for her birthday tomorrow, the girls want to play the same trick on them.
