The girls and I went to the Blue Bush Branch Library tonight to see the movie "Where the Wild Things Are". Its one of my favorite children's books, and we always enjoy the movie nights at the Monroe County libraries so I was excited most of the day to see it. I mean, how can you not look forward to a movie that contains all the elements of a typical child's person's day -- happy, sad, rambunctious and of course... wild? The artistry of the movie was great, and despite lying uncomfortably on the library floor for nearly two hours, being concerned for Kennedy who was not feeling well, and not getting to talk to Aunt Krissy and the boys who arrived a little late, I still enjoyed it.
The movie was a little "deep" at times, and may have been difficult for the girls to understand, but in reflection it was a superb view of the wild adventure of childhood -- complete with the many secrets, mysteries, and large & small 'monsters' that fill it.
There have been several 'kids' movies that we have seen lately which I have really enjoyed -- Up! and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs are two of my favorites. I am sure that in time, Where the Wild Things Are will rank right up there with them.
