Too active?

With the new school year only a week old, the girls have already embraced a full gamut of extra-curricular activities.

Last year, the girls' typical week included scouts, gymnastics (Kennedy) and dance classes (Riley).   This year, they are both have asked to be involved in more -- Riley has six dance classes, and Kennedy has one too, both girls are in gymnastics, Kennedy takes taekwondo twice a week, they both attend a weekly theater workshop, and scouts will begin again in just weeks.   Phew!

Sure, it means that our days are ending late on some nights, but I love that they are developing passions for such things in their young lives. I love that they spend their days being creative, active and exercising rather than planted in front of what dad used to call the 'idiot box' (TV).   I love that both understand that school is their top priority and all activities take a backseat to it.   However, I sometimes worry that are are TOO involved, or worse, that they are participating because they feel that its what their mother or I want them to do.

Both girls are constantly reminded that they should do only what THEY want to, and when something stops being FUN, is when its time to stop.  I guess that I will just have to trust that if they were 'grown up' enough to express that they wanted to do more, that they are also mature enough to say when they have had enough.
