Southern Michigan Railroad

There is something pretty relaxing and tranquil about a train ride.   I don't know if its the gentle rocking to and fro that tries to lull me to sleep, or if it is the whole historically romantic idea of a simpler time when people travelled by rail.   Whatever the reason, I really enjoy train rides.

Last night, the girls and I went for a ride on the Southern Michigan Railroad.  The ride was advertised as a hay ride, and while there were some bales of hay in the open air car, I expected it to be more like a traditional hay ride and hoped to have a hay fight with the girls.   Nevertheless, we still had a fun time.   We began the evening with dinner in Clinton and walked back to catch the train for the ride to Tecumseh.   The ride was about an hour long, during which time it was getting pretty cool.   During the stop-over in Tecumseh, we got some hot chocolate and bread sticks from Basil Boys, then took the return trip inside the passenger car as night fell.    We look forward to some of the additional rides that they have planned for this autumn.
