Fall unofficially arrived for me at 3:41 PM today.
While the calendar said that it was Labor day and that autumn is still several weeks away, once the first sip of this season's apple cider touched my lips, it instantly became fall to me.
We set a goal this year to visit orchards and cider mills that we have not been to before, and to wrap up summer and kick off those new adventures, the girls and I headed down to Erie Orchard for cider and fresh donuts. A few years back, we stopped here after some geocaching with Kris, the boys and Jenn and her daughters, but unfortunately they were closed, so the kids didn't get a chance to explore the orchard. Today, however, was a different story, and after gorging themselves on donuts, carmel apples, and cider, the girls spent the rest of the afternoon feeding the animals and playing in the straw.
Any day filled with fresh cider, donuts and fun is a great way to begin fall.
