Lantern Tours

If I were to make a list of our favorite autumn activities, Oakwood's Lantern Tours would rank right at the top.   I'm sure that its partly due to camaraderie that we share with all of the staff there, but add in a night time walk along the trails and encounters with characters from legends and lore, and...well, there is no event that we look more forward to.

Tonight we enjoyed the 2010 tour filled with encounters of the likes of Nain Rouge (the red dwarf), a crazy scientist (my favorite), mother nature & Oakra Windfree, Red riding in the 'hood (the girls' favorite), moth-man, a member of the Purple Gang,  a French raconteur who told us the story of the loup-garou (warewolf) and bear telling us the Native American legend of the autumn colors too.   We finished the evening with cookies and cider in the warmth of the Up North Room at the nature center.   We will be going back tomorrow evening to volunteer -- we just can't get enough of the fun that we have there.
