Shout!

One of my most satisfying accomplishments (thus far) has been getting the girls to appreciate a wide variety of music.   Oh, tween pop is still their favorite, but there hardly ever is a time where they question what I am listening to, or ask me to change the station.   One of their favorites by far is The Beatles.

I recently read of a Beatles tribute band called Shout, that was appearing at a park in Monroe, so spontaneously we headed there after work.   We arrived a little late and the park was packed, but we still found a pretty good place to spread out the blanket and enjoy the show.

The group played a lot of the Beatles hits from the 60's, then after a short break, changed into Sergent Pepper type attire and played a lot of the later hits.

I found it especially humorous to see young kids dancing and singing along to the songs alongside people that easily were in their 60s.  After the show the girls got to meet "Paul" and as we walked back to the car, Riley said that it was the best concert that she had been to.  Not too shabby for a spontaneous and free after work adventure.
