Ever find one of those small towns where you just feel comfortable at? For the girls and I, that place is Maybee, MI. The one stop-light/two bar town has only about 500 residents, a couple of churches and a handful of other businesses, but it just feels homey. It could be because we love getting ice cream at the Independent Dairy ice cream shop, or playing at the old-school & iconic "rocket park", or going to the programs at their cozy library. Whatever the reason, we really like going to Maybee....especially if its for their Maybee Day.
At their annual celebration, you will not find a large midway, and carny folks barking their "can't lose" games and concessions What you will find is a bunch of yard sales, the fire department's "house on fire", inexpensive refreshments, some inflatable bouncers (all day wristband for 8.00), and a tent full of kids games for 10 cents each (yea...CENTS!)
Hey, I enjoy carnivals perhaps more than the girls.. in fact, we just went to the Sumpterfest a couple of weeks ago, but there are times where the laid back atmosphere of a small village fair is more fun. Today was one of those times, and despite a 10 minute downpour....we had a great time!
