Just a little bit of history too...

After spending the morning enjoying the presentation of Robin Hood at the Hilberry Theater, the girls and I walked across the street for lunch and then spontaneously decided to go to the Detroit Historical Museum.   I hadn't been there since I was about Kennedy's age, but still remember the Old Streets of Detroit display on the lower level, and I'll confess that I was eager to see it again.

We spent a lot of time "upstairs" checking out the displays of the historic peoples, and I think that I did a pretty good job of explaining who people like Jimmy Hoffa, Coleman Young, and Ty Cobb were, but I think that the girls were most excited to discover that the museum had a pressed penny machine and that they could add another to their collection.

We finally made it to the lower level and got to see what the streets of Detroit looked like in the 1840's, 1870's, and 1900's.   It was exactly how I remembered it, and renewed my belief that I was born about a century later than I should have.
