In our quest to never have a dull day, the girls enrolled in a summer gymnastics program at Michigan Academy of Gymnastics. There was only one available class that would fit into our schedules, which meant the both girls would have to be in the same class, and that sibling rivalry would surely ensue.
Having recently completed their spring session, Kennedy picked right up where she had left off. She still struggles a little bit with cartwheels, but is definitely getting better. For Riley, it was her exposure to gymnastics since she was about 5 years old, and while things like cartwheels are much easier now, she learned that there are some things that are much more difficult as a 10 year old.
I wasn't surprised when Riley struggled to climb one of the ropes, but was flabbergasted when Kennedy (who easily climbed all of them just weeks ago) struggled as well. As we walked to the car, I asked the girls what part they liked the most and the least. Both agreed that the ropes were the hardest. When I asked Kennedy why it was so much harder for her this time, she paused, looked around, and then whispered to me that she could have done it, but that she didn't want Riley to feel bad. Sibling rivalry? I guess some times I just don't give them enough credit!
